Give it a Try!
MATERIAL NEEDED:
Paper (regular copy paper is sufficient), Colored Pencils, Markers or Crayons (six basic colors are sufficient), Timer.
Q: "What to do, if I can only draw stick figures"? A: You don't need any drawing skills. The less you know, the more you will be able to let the drawing happen.
- Have paper and a basic set of colored pencils or crayons ready.
- Choose a place where you can be undisturbed for at least twenty minutes.
- Write down the question.
- Set your timer for a short time period, e.g. three to five minutes.
- Send the inner critic for a walk in the woods, relax and open your mind to a sense of curiosity – allow yourself to be surprised.
- Keep the question lightly in the back of your mind without holding on to it or anticipating the answer.
- With your eyes closed spontaneously pick up a pencil – any.
- Put the pencil down anywhere and let it go wherever it wants to go.
- LET THE DRAWING HAPPEN!
- Stop and open your eyes when you feel you’re finished or when the timer rings you back into the reality of the room.
- Write down your first impression - free of consciousness writing: What do you see? What strikes you? Listen to your feelings.
- Do you see the answer?
You may not see the answer right away. It will take some time and training to gain confidence in analyzing your drawings. To give you a better idea about the Inner Voice Drawing process, check out the experience of a workshop participant or try out a free trial session by following the audio instruction.
However, if you want to make Inner Voice Drawing a part of your personal toolbox, I recommend that you attend one of our workshops or -better yet- try out an individual session.
