What is Inner Voice Drawing®?
Inner Voice Drawing is an inspirational drawing method that works on a simple Q & A formula:
You ask a question
You draw
You get the answer through the drawing
How can this possibly work?
It works because you have all the answers already, not in your rational mind, but in your higher self. Inner Voice Drawing acts as a conduit to bring you in contact with this deeper place of knowing and helps you to draw out the answers to your questions.
The drawing process does not require any drawing skills and the material may already be at your fingertips: all you need is a regular sheet of paper and a basic set of crayons or colored pencils.
The tougher part is of a mental nature: We usually love control. It gives us a feeling of security. Inner Voice Drawing however is about letting go of control. You’re lending your drawing hand to your higher self and “let draw” with as little interference of your inner critic as possible. To help this process I often ask the beginning students to draw and pick the colors with their eyes closed. The more you can stay out of the way rationally and be in a place of wonder and childlike innocence, the more truthful the answers will be for your highest good, and the more you will learn to trust yourself.
The answer comes, when you let it happen. For some people the answer presents itself through a flash of insight during the drawing process and the drawing result will thus merely be a confirmation of their spontaneous revelations. Others, like myself, have to analyze the drawing itself to find clarification to the posed question.
The answer in the drawing may come in form of figurative shapes or in a more abstract form. Your drawing may all be squiggles and lines, and you may shake your head in bewilderment at what it all means.
The meaning, however, is already there, defined by your spontaneous choice of color, shape of lines, and the placement of the drawing on paper. Check out the Sample page of people’s drawings, the Gallery, and the sketches throughout this site to get an idea about the vast variety of personal expressions as well as the spectrum of possible questions.
If you would like to give it a try, read the lively description of a workshop event by one of the participants, follow a few easy guidelines or listen to the audio instructions.
If you have any questions or are interested to make Inner Voice Drawing a part of your personal toolbox contact me: come to one of our workshops or take a private session, either in person or through Skype on the internet. I hope to see you at one of these occasions. Until then, try it out and have fun.
All the best,
